Accessible Guide

At Showtime Kayaking, we believe everyone should have the chance to enjoy the splendor of Lake Macquarie at night. This guide explains the ways we make our tours more accessible, and how we can support you or your family to have a safe, fun, and unforgettable experience.

Before You Book

  • Accessibility Features on Our Websitee
Our website has an accessibility tool that allows you to adjust text size, colours, contrast, and readability to suit your needs.

  • NSW Companion Card
The NSW Companion Card lets people with a lifelong disability bring a carer or support person with them free of charge. If you hold a Companion Card, your companion’s ticket for our kayak tours is on us.

  • Sharing Your Needs
When booking online, you’ll see an option to tell us about any special requirements. You’re also welcome to email or call us if you’d like to discuss things in more detail — we’re always happy to help.

  • Booking Flexibility
We understand that families, especially those with children who may be a little nervous, sometimes need extra flexibility. Please get in touch if you’re unsure — we’ll work with you to make it possible.

Arrival & Safety

  • Welcoming Environment
Our team is trained to provide patient, supportive guidance for guests of all ages and abilities. We’ll take the time to answer questions and explain what to expect.
  • Support Boat
Our dedicated support boat is always nearby during tours. This gives extra peace of mind for anyone who may feel uncertain about kayaking.
  • Safety Briefing
We deliver clear instructions in plain language and demonstrate all techniques. If you need extra support or a slower pace, just let us know — we’ll take care of it.

Equipment & Comfort

  • Stable, Clear Kayaks
Our kayaks are designed to be comfortable and stable, making them easier for beginners or nervous paddlers. Guests can also kayak with a partner for added reassurance.
  • Extra Support
Our kayaks have excellent back support. If you have specific needs, let us know in advance so we can prepare.
  • Life Jackets
All life jackets are fitted individually to ensure comfort and safety.

On the Water

  • Flexible Pacing
We move as a group but always at a relaxed pace. Guides check in regularly to make sure everyone is comfortable.
  • Personalised Support
Our guides are trained to assist with different needs — whether that’s encouraging a nervous child, offering hands-on help with paddling, or providing extra space for confidence.
  • Eyes on the water
If environmental harm is spotted, our guides report it — helping safeguard the lake for the long run.

After the Tour

  • Accessible Communication
If you’d like a tour recap or further guidance (e.g. for children, or guests with hearing/learning differences), our guides are happy to spend extra time explaining highlights clearly.
  • Feedback Welcome
We encourage feedback on how we can improve. Accessibility is an ongoing journey, and guest input helps us continue to adapt.

Our Promise

We know accessibility looks different for everyone. At Showtime Kayaking, our promise is simple:

If there’s something we can do to make your experience easier, safer, or more enjoyable — we’ll do our very best to make it happen.

For questions or specific requests, please contact us before your tour. We’d love to help you create a night on the water you’ll never forget.
